Three new wide releases, but are really any of them going to be draws? Not likely, though I expect Blacklight has a better shot as any at topping the chart.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): Another Liam Neeson actioner. Haven’t been interested in one yet and this won’t be the start. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like another paycheck thriller for Liam Neeson. Thomas LaTourette (TL): It looks like a typical Liam Neeson film with lots of action and angst.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): I wasn’t impressed with Kenneth Branagh’s prior Agatha Christie adaptation and this one doesn’t look much better. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks as inferior to the 1978 version as Branagh’s version of Murder on the Orient Express was to its 1974 version. Thomas LaTourette (TL): It does not look to bear much resemblance to the novel but it might still be a fun movie.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): Owen Wilson and Jennifer Lopez in a romantic comedy that looks like it was stolen from the 1990s. Not really interested. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a failed attempt at bringing back the screwball comedy. Thomas LaTourette (TL): Itโs billed as a rom-com but there is no comedy and almost no romance in the trailer.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): It looks like a lot of other indie boxing dramas that want to refocus themselves without purpose. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a fair to middling thriller about a female boxer searching for her missing sister. Thomas LaTourette (TL): It might be an okay movie but the trailer does not make it very interesting.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): I have no idea what this film wants to be about and that does not make me terribly interested. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Berlin as the Nazis are about to take over – looks stylish but doesn’t seem to offer anything new. Thomas LaTourette (TL): I am not certain what the film is about and the trailer did a miserable job trying to sell the film.

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer almost got me hooked into the premise, but it never fully ignited beyond that initial spark. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Twisty thriller looks both familiar yet different enough to sustain interest. Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer tries to convey unease but it mostly seems pretty tame.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): It’s a rather uninspired trailer that doesn’t present its own case for being watched. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Life as seen through the eyes of children was a hit at Cannes. Thomas LaTourette (TL): The reviews are good but a confusing trailer does not make the case for a compelling film about bullying.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): Not Another Teen Movie. They keep trying and failing, so what’s to expect this one to be any different. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Teen romantic drama looks and sounds annoying. Thomas LaTourette (TL): It doesnโt look to be the worst Valentineโs Day film but it felt too much teenage angst for me.
