Even with the solid debut of Good Boys, another week at the top is unlikely considering the film didn’t pull in much over $20 million. That leaves two films with solid potential of winning the weekend. Overcomer is the latest Christian-themed film destined for release and while the genre hasn’t produced a lot of hits recently, this one could be different with a black lead rather than a white one. That said, it’s going to face a very difficult road to the top against the third film in the “Has Fallen” series. Angel Has Fallen may not have the gravitas of the original, but it should pull in a nice opening weekend. London Has Fallen, in spite of performing poorly compared to the original, still managed a $21 million opening. If this one approaches that amount, it should take the top spot.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): None of the prior films in this series have been that interesting to look at, so I don’t think I’ll check this one out either.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Third actioner in a series looks even less appealing than its predecessors.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): I have not seen the earlier films of the series, but this looks like a generic thriller.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The concept intrigues me and I could definitely be pursuaded to give this one a chance.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Nutty looking horror movie seems a bit tedious.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): While there is some humor to the trailer, I have the feeling that it will wear thin by the end of the movie.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The trailer doesn’t entirely put the viewer off, but it’s not the kind of film I get into.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): The setting may be new, but the story’s been done to death.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The culture shock of the burlesque dancer versus her Muslim upbringing may be fun and somewhat enlightening.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): The film looks funny and it could be a good time, but there’s still a part of me that is reticent.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Sappy inspirational story may have its moments but they appear to be few and far between.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The film looks cute, but it also feels like it will turn into the typical romcom before it ends.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): This film’s trailer utterly fails to convince me that it’s going to be worth much at all.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like an engaging comedy set in Milwaukee with a cast of unknown actors.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): The trailer feels a little too earnest and not humorous enough, but early reviews do make this sound worth catching.

Individual Commentary:

Wesley Lovell (WL): Some of this looks interesting, some of it looks mediocre.
Peter J. Patrick (PP): Looks like a gorgeously set and costumed if boring depiction of the British upper classes in the 1920s.
Thomas LaTourette (TL): From everything I have read, this should be a fascinating film that unfortunately is not as good as it should be.
