With streaming programs in full force across various platforms, thereโ€™s no excuse not to view something at home now, whether it be through one of the services or from the reserves of your DVD and Blu-ray collections.

Here are a few examples of the remarkable films and TV series and miniseries that are streaming right now.

Now streaming on Max are The Zone of Interest and Wonka.

Nominated for 5 Oscars and winner of 2 for Best International Feature and Best Sound, Jonathan Glazerโ€™s The Zone of Interest is a chilling look at the day-to-day lives of Auschwitz Commandant Rudolph Hoss and his wife Hedwig as they build dream lives for themselves and their family in a house and garden beside the camp, ignoring the suffering that is going on all around them.

Christian Freidel (The White Ribbon) and Sandra Hรผller (Toni Erdmann) are both outstanding. Hรผller, even more sensational in Anatomy of a Fall for which she was a Best Actress nominee, was also in the running for a Best Supporting Actress nomination for this, but it didnโ€™t pan out.

Before Dune: Part Two, Timothรฉe Chalamet had another box office hit with the Christmas release Wonka in which he played the title character.

This is the third major film based on Roald Dahlโ€™s Wonka character. Gene Wilder was the first to play him in 1971โ€™s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Johnny Depp played him in the 2005 remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which was the original title of Dahlโ€™s book. The Chalamet film is an origin story featuring Hugh Grant and Olivia Colman among its many supporting players.

Now streaming on Prime are Anatomy of a Fall and Saltburn.

If you havenโ€™t caught up with Hรผller in her Oscar-nominated performance in Anatomy of a Fall, you can still catch it on Prime.

Nominated for 5 Oscars including Best Picture and winner of 1 for Best Original Screenplay, this courtroom drama is mesmerizing from start to finish with a remarkable lead performance from Hรผller and equally fine ones from Milo Machado-Graner as Hรผllerโ€™s vision-impaired son and Messi as the family dog.

Emerald Fennellโ€™s devastatingly funny Saltburn fared better at BAFTA where it received 5 nominations than it did with Oscar, which completely snubbed it and its impeccable cast led by Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, and Rosamund Pike.

Now streaming on Hulu are All of Us Strangers and We Were the Lucky Ones.

Andrew Haighโ€™s fantasy drama All of Us Strangers, which was also ignored by Oscar, fared even better with BAFTA than Saltburn, where it was nominated for 6 awards. Unbelievably, however, BAFTA ignored both star Andrew Scott and supporting actor Jamie Bell who played his father, while recognizing the filmโ€™s other major supporting players Paul Mescal as Scottโ€™s young lover, and Claire Foy as his mother.

We Were the Lucky Ones is an insightful miniseries about the Holocaust starring Logan Lerman.

Now streaming on Netflix are Scoop and Ripley.

Scoop is a film about an infamous 2019 BBC interview of Prince Andrew in the wake of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal involving the Queenโ€™s favorite son.

The film is likely to resonate more with British viewers than it is with American audiences who are only vaguely familiar with the princeโ€™s involvement in the Epstein matter.

The film is a bit off-putting in that it is told from the viewpoint of the production assistant who put the deal together. As played by Billie Piper, sheโ€™s a rather annoying character. Better are Gillian Anderson as the steely-eyed reporter interviewing the prince, Kelley Hawes as the princeโ€™s press secretary, Romola Garai as the showโ€™s producer, and Rufus Sewell as the prince.

Now streaming on Paramount Plus are NCIS and A Gentleman in Moscow

You can catch up on the seriesโ€™ past 20 seasons and the first few episodes of season 21 of the venerable series about the exploits of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) as it investigates crimes against the Navy and Marines and their personnel. The series aired its 1,000th episode on Monday, April 15.

Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, and Pauley Perrette may be gone from the series, but longtime players Sean Murray, Brian Dietzen, and Rocky Carroll are still there. David McCallum, who had been in more episodes than anyone until he died earlier this year at 90, was honored in the current seasonโ€™s second episode.

A Gentleman in Moscow is a new miniseries starring Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the true story of a Russian aristocrat spared from death and placed under house arrest while the Bolshevik Revolution plays out before him.

Now streaming on Peacock are Oppenheimer and The Holdovers.

If you havenโ€™t yet seen Oppenheimer or wish to see it again, the film, which was nominated for 13 Oscars and won 7 including Best Picture, Director, Actor (Cillian Murphy), and Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), is still playing there for you.

The Holdovers, which is also being held over, was nominated for 5 Oscars and won one for Best Supporting Actress Daโ€™Vine Joy Randolph. Star Paul Giamatti, who won just about every 2023 Best Actor award that Cillian Murphy didnโ€™t, and co-star Dominic Sessa are also extraordinary in what will surely become a Christmas classic.

Happy viewing.
