Last Week’s Results

We all were fairly certain that the sixth Fast & Furious film would take the top spot at the box office, but none of us guessed it would come so close to $100 million, making it one of the year’s top debuts and helping deliver a record Memorial Day weekend. Meanwhile, the third Hangover film failed to impressed with a meager $41 million, suggesting that the poorly received second film didn’t make the fans very happy and they stayed away from what they feared would be more of the same. Epic had a stronger opening than I expected, tapping into family audiences who’ve been largely ignored in recent weeks, but which will get a hefty boost in June with the latest Pixar affair.
