Last Week’s Results

The big news of the weekend wasn’t the superb debut of Despicable Me 2, but the utter failure of The Lone Ranger to translate its heavily hyped Pirates of the Caribbean connections into major box office dollars. While a normal film would kill for a $30 million opening, a film budgeted as The Lone Ranger, this total is disappointing. Meanwhile, all those who wished that Depp and Disney would flop on this one should be quite happy with this result.
