Synopsis:

From IMDb: “After her life falls apart, soft-spoken actress Laura Franco finds her voice again when she meets a terrifying, yet weirdly charming Monster living in her closet. A romantic-comedy-horror film about falling in love with your inner rage.”

Poster Rating: C+ / C+

Review: (#1, C+) The corny hand-hearts concept, one damaged, one furry, speaks easily of the premise but the awful background color and the cheap-looking titling doesn’t generate much in the way of appeal.

(#2, C+) A small step up from the prior design, the main characters at least at the forefront. The explosive heart concept is interesting enough but the Beauty and the Beast vibes are a definite deterrent to viewership.

Trailer Rating: B-

Review: (#1, B-) The trailer’s entire insistence is that it’s a modern version of Beauty and the Beast. Yet for all its present-day setting, it also feels like the Disney animated movie from more than 30 years ago was significantly more progressive in its view of the female character. Further the romantic nature of such a story seems completely lost on the filmmaker or at least the trailermaker.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
