Review: (#1, C+) The candy jars is a nice touch if a bit overbearing. The orange aura is overbearing.
(#2-#15, C+) This series of character posters uses a similar swirl pattern in varying colors, which isn’t terribly interesting in itself, but the lettering is strong and the central figures are engaging if nothing else.
(#16, B-) While it’s not terribly busy, it feels busy, which is a bit oppressive with such candy-coated confections in the background. It’s not likely to entice. (#17, B-) While somewhat similar to the last, it’s not nearly as busy, which enables it to look like a throwback to the original film with the plastic nature of the candy on display. (#18, C+) It is insufficiently different from past designs with the jars of candy in the background. It feels overproduced. (#19, C) The Wonka bar and the golden wrapper might tie it into the film, but it looks a bit cheap on the whole. (#20, C+) There isn’t enough in the background here to make it genuinely appealing, but its candy-dropping elements make for an intriguing design flow. (#21, B-) All the characters on display in a somewhat clunky manner. The design has some appeal, but perhaps not enough.
Trailer Rating: B+ / B+

Review: (#1, B+) While the musical elements are woefully missing, the infectiousness of the film comes through quite well. Timothรฉe Chalamet comes off as a fitting embodiment of the character in some scenes and like he’s completely out of his depth in a handful of others.
(#2, B+) The first trailer was delightful, but this one is magical. It explores the personality of Willy Wonka and the threats he faces while making it look colorful and vibrant, a spiritual precursor to the original Gene Wilder hit.
Oscar Prospects:
On the surface, it doesn’t seem like an Oscar contender, but the pedigree of the film would suggest otherwise.
