Review: (#1, C) The intent is to convey terror but the eyes don’t give that vibe. They also don’t look as childlike as they probably should. The red clothing might suggest a little red riding hood motif but it’s not certain that was the intention.
(#2, B-) Reading into the design the film’s premise is a fairly simple method. The atmosphere is appealing and the framing solid but it’s otherwise simplistic.

Review: (#1, C+) Strangely, the formula for horror trailers has always been to build tension and then move on to jump scares with dramatic music and chilling images. This trailer tries to create such effects but comes off as frenetic and confusing. What’s the premise here. Do we get enough of the werewolf idea from this trailer? Are they trying to hide the effects hoping for that to be enough to draw in a crowd? Whatever their choice, it largely doesn’t work.
(#2, B-) The first teaser trailer did poorly in conveying the narrative but now we have more of it. There’s a beast without and a beast within and that’s at least an intriguing balance of fear and tension. There are some interesting design choices from the film that are surprisingly more fascinating than expected, especially in the use of lighting dynamics to correlate with the changing mental landscape.
Oscar Prospects:
Perhaps a Makeup & Hairstyling nomination but doubtful.
