Review: (#1) If you know the story, this makes sense. If you don’t, it makes none, which isn’t going to get people to look up the film.
(#2-#8) A series of character posters that are relatively similar, but distinct and interesting enough to be notable.
(#9) The background is poorly chosen, largely because they could have done plenty to draw attention to Steve Carell and his puppet version without feeling generic and lifeless.
Trailer Rating: B+ / A / B+

Review: (#1) What a most fascinating trailer. Even knowing the story behind the film (based on the documentary about this man), the trailer never ceases to be imaginative. Without having seen Marwencol, I cannot say for certain if it is true to the story, but even if not, the trailer makes this look like a great deal of fun with plenty of compelling drama thrown in.
(#2) It’s been a long while since a Robert Zemeckis film looked this exciting and enticing. The inventive nature of the premise is sure to spark myriad imaginations and the trailer does a superb job of building anticipation in audiences who might not be familiar with the celebrated documentary that came out a few years ago.
(#3) There aren’t many more embellishments than the prior trailer. It continues to look like an inventive feature, but there are elements here that are also beginning to look a bit tired.
Oscar Prospects:
Robert Zemeckis hasn’t been a major Oscar player in years, but this could be just the right kind of movie to take him there. It could also be a box office success, which could help its Oscar chances.
