Poster: B- / C+

Review: The first design is certainly clever, but hardly earth shattering. It’s a nice twist on the champagne tower concept. The second poster is more traditional and while I can fault it for not being particular energizing, it’s just a bit dazzling and looks a bit different than other posters out there right now that it has an added eye-catching element.

Trailer: B / B-

Review: Tyler Perry has been focusing a good deal recently on bringing actors of different races than his typical fare into his productions. This all while white filmmakers are avoiding an increase in diversity in their productions. I can’t say that it makes me more inclined to watch a Perry film, but I at least find it more respectable. This film looks like it could be a good deal of fun. One of my favorite actresses form Bridesmaids is here, though she isn’t given much work to do in the trailer. The film still build itself on available stereotypes, but presents enough amusement to seem diverting.

(#2) Either because I’ve seen the first trailer or because it isn’t all that funny, the second trailer loses some of the impact of the first. There are still some diverting elements, but the first trailer made this seem like a much more insightful and interesting premise, or at least a bit more interesting. Still, it has its charms.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
