Review: (#1, C+) An attempt to create a traditional garb, this design looks a bit too forced for its own good but will most certainly generate the kind of appeal it needs.
(#2, B-) A lot of interesting details here and they are generally well arranged. The issue with the design is that it’s the blending of he figures don’t quite work with the maternal figures being pushed out of the frame in a roughshod way. That said, I will give them credit for having Youn Yuh-jung’s eyeline pointing at her grandson. Even if nothing else worked, that would be laudatory on its own. It would be nice, however, if they had arranged the cast by where they are at on the poster. Other than Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, and Joan Chen, I don’t think anyone would be able to recognize the others in general

Review: (#1, C+) There are some interesting moments of humor here but the concept is driven into the ground quite quickly and some of the jokers don’t quite land. It doesn’t feel derivative of the original, which is a bonus, but it also doesn’t make the idea seem that necessary.
(#2, C+) Like the prior trailer, we get most of the plot explained to us and that will be enough to at least get some butts in the seats but the lack of or struggle genuinely humorous moments leaves the viewer wondering whether it will be the kind of film that they are interested in seeing and it will likely put off fans of the original film.
Oscar Prospects:
The original film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film but that film was in the hands of master filmmaker Ang Lee. This remake, apart from releasing too early in the year, doesn’t feel like the quality of film that makes it to the Oscars.
