Review: (#1) While the film is supposed to conjure up fond memories of 80s horror, this poster design does a better job conveying that than the trailer. This is an interesting piece, perhaps unrelated to the film itself, but interesting nonetheless. (#2) The same strange creature from the first poster is here again, but less interestingly rendered. At least this one connects the posters to the trailer. (#3) This design is trying to be evocative in a simple way, but is ultimately just simple.
(#4) This design has a more H.P. Lovecraftian feel than the other designs, but also lacks the level of detail that would make it unforgettable. (#5) There’s plenty of detail here, lots of tentacles and it is so intensely familiar, at least to fans of 80s horror, that is fairly successful.
Trailer Rating: B-

Review: There’s a significant amount of dread in this trailer, though it seems a bit conventional at times. That said, there are just enough unique and compelling elements to draw most horror fans into the theater, just to see what’s going on.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
