From IMDb: “In the south of France, former special-ops mercenary Frank Martin enters into a game of chess with a femme-fatale and her three sidekicks who are looking for revenge against a sinister Russian kingpin.”

Poster Rating: F / B- / C+

Review: (#1) If you don’t have a familiar face, you shouldn’t be on a poster design. Not only does it not draw a casual viewer’s eye, the tagline and overall design are boring enough to lose the viewer right away. (#2) A visually engaging backdrop give this poster design some weight, but it’s ultimately a design we’ve seen a lot in this type of film recently. (#3) Trying to go for the inset-image design doesn’t always work if there’s nothing really exciting to look at and this design doesn’t quite give us that.

Trailer Rating: C+ / C

Review: (#1) Without much plot, only fans of the original Transporter and its sequels would give this film a second glance. The trailer’s filled with all the vehicular action and compelling stunts those fans would love, but doesn’t have enough distinctiveness to go beyond that.

(#2) Now that we have a better idea of what the film’s about, it becomes even less interesting. A rescue mission that looks like they crossed Fast & Furious with Taken, the differences aren’t sufficient to keep the audience tuned in.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
