Review: (#1, C) Trying very hard to make this seem like a swashbuckling adventure, the designers don’t seem to understand what makes those films exciting. The hodge-podge of plot details accentuate the tenuous strings holding everything together (#1, C+) The second trailer does a decent job trying to set itself up as a one-of-a-kind adventure with some intriguing set pieces. Yet, it still struggles to find a way to make the excitement palpable enough to be appealing.

Oscar Prospects:

This series of films seems like Oscar bait with its production values but the first film didn’t get a nomination and so neither will the second.
