Release Date:
April 25, 2014
Synopsis:
From IMDb: “A university professor and a team of students conduct an experiment on a young woman, uncovering terrifyingly dark, unexpected forces in the process.”
Poster: B+ / D (3)
Review: A rather elegant, but twisted design makes for a nice departure from the tortured, scratched design aesthetic of many recent horror films. The three character posters not only revert to that style, but make it thoroughly unrecognizable and utterly repulsive and not in the good-horror-film kind of way.
Trailer: C+ / C
Review: There isn’t a huge difference between the two trailers, though the first merits a higher rating simply for making the film feel a bit more original. However, as you watch the second trailer, you begin to wonder how many different scares could really be in a film that seems intent on sticking to the same or similar frights.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
