Synopsis:
From IMDb: “Based on a single chapter, the Captain’s Log, from Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 novel Dracula, the story is set aboard the Russian schooner Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo – twenty-four unmarked wooden crates – from Carpathia to London. The film will detail the strange events that befell the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a terrifying presence on board the ship. When it finally arrived near Whitby Harbour, it was a derelict. There was no trace of the crew.”

Review: (#1) While the colors create a nice foreboding element to the design, the wave crashing motif looks fake and the blurriness of the background details over-emphasize the character in the foreground who is surprisingly still indistinct.
(#2) This simplistic design might help viewers determine their interest in the film thanks to the reference to Dracula, but it’s visually bland, which might not entice. (#3) Similar to the last design, this one does the same work with less intriguing visuals (if that’s possible).

Review: This is based on a small reference in Bram Stoker’s Dracula and while that might not initially seem like something a compelling narrative could be inferred, it also feels like a natural fit for a one-off survival horror film. That said, knowing the fate of the Demeter isn’t likely to give one much rooting hope for the characters in the film.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
