Review: There are three designs, the first two in Italian, the last in English. The last is not a traditional poster, but employs the design aesthetic of the first poster, spread across a broader tableau. Neither the first nor third design are really that beautiful, which undermines the title somewhat. The second design is more interesting in spite of being the more generic design. It highlights the beauty in emptiness and gives our film’s protagonist distinctiveness.

Review: The trailer is almost of two minds. The first half sets up the primary character’s motivations and designation, establishing the chaotic beauty of the club scene in Rome while the latter half showcases the beauty of the exterior city itself, naturally and architecturally. That dichotomy firmly establishes the film’s tone, premise and essence without giving away the contemplative details. That the film also bares a striking resemblance to the work of Federico Fellini isn’t lost on anyone familiar with his work.

Oscar Prospects:

It’s Italy’s submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar this year. Critics who’ve seen it are universally positive about it and Italy has a long history with the Academy, so a nomination is almost assured at this point. But can it beat others in the category? We’ll have to see how they perform on the “audience” level first.
