Synopsis:
From IMDb: “A documentary portrait of the late John Wojtowicz, whose attempted robbery of a Brooklyn bank to finance his male lover’s sex-reassignment surgery was the real-life inspiration for Dog Day Afternoon (1975).”
Poster: B- / C+
Review: The first design has a very M feel, an homage to the many crime dramas of the 1920’s and 1930’s, which is somewhat fitting. The second design is so utterly bizarre that you can’t help but get curious about what the movie is going to try and do. While neither will undeniably juice up the interest in general audiences, those interested in the subject matter might take notice.
Trailer: C+
Review: Hollywood’s inspirations can be quite fascinating when presented as an intense mystery or exploration of the methods and madness of the subjects. With the vanity of the documentary’s subject, John Wojtowicz, the effort feels less interesting and more banal.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
