Review: (#1) Having never seen the infamous film on which this film is based (The Room), the poster has almost no interest to me. However, I have it on authority from those who’ve seen it that it’s an in-joke. That is unfortunate if the producers want to expand interest in this film.
(#2) This scene from the film holds a certain hypnotic quality that makes it look more interesting than it has any right to be.
Trailer Rating: C+ / C+ / C

Review: (#1) For those not familiar with The Room, the film feels like a behind-the-scenes comedy that might struggle for relevance. For fans of the previous film, there may be added interest.
(#2) If James Franco’s speech patterns don’t immediately annoy you, the cheap editing of the trailer is surely to disappoint. The desire of a trailer is to make the film appealing outside of the core demographic and non-fans of The Room won’t likely be that compelled by this.
(#3) This is a film whose very concept doesn’t seem that exciting, but which has been said to be terrific. That the trailer can’t capture that excitement may hinder the film’s chances of finding an audience. After all, most people aren’t familiar with The Room, so might not be that interested in a film based on the creators of that. The trailer needs to do a much better job convincing them to care than this one has.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
