Review: (#1, C+) The empty periphery might accentuate the foreground but the dullness of that arrangement and limited scope make it feel pointless. (#2 & #4, C) These two designs are basically the same with differing fonts. They have a minimal inset that doesn’t add much and the backdrop while somewhat lovely is underwhelming all the same. (#3, C) This does more to tell the setting and story of the titular character than anything prior but apart from being a lovely sunset does nothing monumental for the viewer.

Trailer Rating: C+

Review: (#1, C+) Even if you’re familiar with the story of The Count of Monte-Cristo, you’d be hard-pressed to see something beyond the page in this trailer. We’ve seen a handful of adaptations and this looks relatively similar to all of them, which might suggest why it hasn’t been re-adapted very often. That said, it doesn’t look half bad from the trailer’s action. It just looks a bit unnecessary.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
