Review: (#1) It’s nice to see a different color palette than we’ve seen in most animated films, though this first one doesn’t have much of interesting to say. (#2) A few more nice details here, but a lot less interesting background. Still a solid color set.

(#3-#7) It’s a rather dull set of character designs with nothing unique or compelling about any of them. (#8) That white background is oppressive and the shadows aren’t really that interesting. Why they wanted to avoid showing the faces doesn’t compute.

Review: (#1) What almost feels like a cross between Wreck-It Ralph and Ocean’s 11, the trailer is a mish-mash of styles and concepts that work decently well together, but still feels like a minor DreamWorks effort.

(#2) The attempts at humor here are hamfisted and the end result is something that looks less interesting than the somewhat teasing first trailer.

Oscar Prospects:

Could be an Oscar contender, but the April release suggests otherwise.
