Release Date:

Synopsis:
From IMDb: “After losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, a woman hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother.”
Poster: C / C / C- (4) / C+ (5)
Review: A larger than life Melissa McCarthy says “my name is Tammy” and demands you watch her movie sight unseen even if there’s nothing artistic about her film’s poster’s design.
(#2-#10) The second poster seems more fitting for the sale of the movie even if it isn’t that funny or interesting or appealing. The next four seem to be a set of action posters designed to highlight how much excitement will be in the film without being truly exciting. The final five are an interesting take on the standard character poster designs that accompany major films with large casts (and even some minor films). Instead, we have the primary character with individual characters from her name. Clever, but not particularly compelling.
Trailer: C- / C
Review: (#1) I like McCarthy well enough, but this hapless, bumbling routine is getting wearisome. The film takes a single situation from the film and turns it into a trailer, which isn’t very interesting and doesn’t exactly tell you what the film is about.
(#2) The trailer got a little bit funnier, but Melissa McCarthy seems to falling into the trap that plague Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler. They get into a schtick that works and sells tickets and then forget to do something new or original. This film looks like the same tired act we’ve seen for the last several films. She needs to work on expanding her capabilities.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
