Synopsis:
From IMDb: “Follows the life and legacy of Steve Jobs.”
Poster Rating: C+
Review: (#1) Apple has always prided itself on simplicity of design and while that’s evocative in itself, to sell a film, you need something a bit more compelling.
Trailer Rating: C / B+
Review: (#1) The shrinking image is distracting for a time, though it eventually makes sense. That lack of definition doesn’t excite as well as it probably should.
(#2) They keep working with the slowly shrinking screen motif, which gets annoying quick, but this trailer does a far better job establishing that this film is a traditional biopic and not a look at a single moment in the man’s life.
Oscar Prospects:
The last Steve Jobs biopic was a box office and critical bomb. This time, the director behind the camera has enough cachet to leverage more attention. It could be a solid player, but it has to be really good, though Michael Fassbender would seem to be a solid contender even if the film isn’t.
