Review: (#1, F) While the background has some visual detail, there’s nothing engaging about a lettering-only poster design.
(#2, C) A corny silence finger with no background elements but a malevolent look in James McAvoy’s face does some measure of heavy lifting.
(#3, B-) An effort has been made to go for something stylish without doing something unique. The black-and-white figure and the menace in his visage are interrupted by his victims with red, which gives it a certain thematic appeal. (#4, C) The mute screaming doesn’t really excite the way it should. The empty background, the soft yellow lettering and the overbearing red interrupting it all makes for an unappealing choice.
Trailer Rating: C+ / C

Review: (#1, C+) James McAvoy has been trying to branch out with his villainous exploits but this trailer showcases a film that feels a bit contrive rather than alarming, thrilling, or scary.
(#2, C) A derivation on the original trailer with fewer spine-tingling elements thrown in. This might have been better as a teaser rather than a final trailer. The first trailer did a better job suggesting the creepy and unsettling nature of the story whereas this one feels like it neuters some of that.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
