Synopsis:
From IMDb: “A young woman strikes up a relationship with her ailing brother’s favorite musician.”
Poster: D+
Review: Perhaps if you’re a romantic drama fan who also likes Anne Hathaway, this might have some appeal to you. However, for most folks, it’s easy to skip over the poster at your local cineplex when examining more active fare.
Trailer: F / C+
Review: These are a perfect example of how editing can turn something borderline questionable into something mainstream acceptable. No doubt this first trailer put off a number of potential customers as a second trailer was created. (#1) The first cut sets the premise of a sister visiting her hospitalized brother and then proceeding to fall in love with his musical idol. It’s a somewhat questionable way to sell a film. (#2) The second trailer makes the film seem like a romantic drama about two semi-damaged people finding each other, yet a tragedy occurs in the midst of their burgeoning relationship, setting things on a new course. Unfortunately, this second trailer is more misleading than the first as the first does a better job setting up the impetus for the plot while the second tries to mask it.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
