Review: (#1, C+) The image itself is strangely at war with itself. The movement of the cleansing pad is wiping away the tears as the diagonal slash indicates but her face has nothing cleared away or smudged. The skin tone of the hand doesn’t quite match and the slash motif looks more like a horror effort than it should. Perhaps that is the intent since there are some minor horror elements in the trailer. That said, the element of the design that works best is the titling.
(#2, C) Like the prior design, this one tries to create some interesting motifs with the eyes but it doesn’t ultimately make sense. It is attempting to look like ruined mascara from crying but it doesn’t look right while the skincare regimen looks a bit fake.
Trailer Rating: C+

Review: (#1, C+) Whether or not this is based on an actual true story is a notion that must be set aside to get at the core of the film, which may or may not be a revenge thriller. While there are some elements that remind favorably of Promising Young Woman, there’s not enough consistency in tone to get the viewer excited about it.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
