Review: (#1) Setting the film up as an exploration of tyrants and their treatment of the populace mixed with a typical revolution narrative are aided only with the knowledge that the film is from director Mike Leigh, which isn’t made much of in the trailer.
(#2) There isn’t much difference between these two trailers suggesting that much of the tension and intrigue in the film may be confined to these moments, which isn’t a promising prospect.
Oscar Prospects:
Mike Leigh is one of those directors who always piques the curiosity of Oscar voters and this period film about a historical rebellion could be especially tempting for voters who have given him surprise nominations for Directing and Original Screenplay on multiple occasions.
