Synopsis:
From IMDb: “Obsessed with vengeance, a man sets out to find out why he was kidnapped and locked up into solitary confinement for 20 years without reason.”
Poster: B+ / D+ / B+
Review: Our hero emerging from a large steamer trunk is nicely original and should convey a sense of mystery and give an idea of the uniqueness of premise for the film. The retreating figure in the background is an added touch that enlivens the scene in the film from which this image comes.
The second design is overly simplistic, establishing our hero as a claw-hammer wielding, black-suited guy with no visually representation of the significance of all this.
Finally, the bizarre nature of the film’s twisting plot narrative is conveyed in this interesting design where our hero is given new positioning and a look into the rooms of his heart where his destiny draws him. It’s an fascinating invocation of the film’s concept.
Trailer: B+
Review: The trailer design sets the film’s premise up quite well, spelling it out for an audience that’s likely to be confused by it. Whether the film keeps the fervor and energy of the trailer design in tact is uncertain.
Oscar Prospects:
The unusual nature of the film’s plotting is unlikely to make it appealing to Oscar voters who seem to like their films narratively straight forward.
