Review: I’ve seen similar designs before and there’s just not enough to recommend it. There’s not enough life or soul to the design.

Review: Every beat on display takes us through historical events with predictability and derivative expectations. This looks like a horrendously generic biopic with a forced performance that will suffer even more as fans of the artist begin to call out the studio for its casting and skin-darkening choices.

Oscar Prospects:

When the studio picked up this biopic, I’m sure they were trying to figure out a way not only to monetize it, but to make it awards bait. Why else would they choose Zoe Saldana to play Nina Simone? I’m sure someone thought it would be a good idea, but by all appearances, it looks like it will probably be a dud.
