Poster Rating: D+

Review: This poster makes Richard Gere look a lot older than he really is, which doesn’t make for a pleasing connection with the audience looking for a romance. Yes, his and Diane Lane’s postures and facial expressions give the idea of romance, the whole isn’t incredibly romantic.

Trailer Rating: C; C-

Review: A pretty typical trailer. Aside from the notable talent of the film’s stars, the notation that this is from the author of The Notebook and Message in a Bottle (why no mention of A Walk to Remember? maybe because the other two were at lesat box office successes?), doesn’t give it much hope to those who’ve never seen those romantic dramas or heard anything exceedingly positive about them.

Who doesn’t already know what the film’s about and how it ends without having read the book? Watch the extended trailer and you’ll get the information you probably don’t want and still be able to enjoy the film, if it’s enjoyable at all.

Oscar Prospects:

Perennial buzz was always for these films, but I can’t say anyone other than Richard Gere or Diane Lane would be considered and even they haven’t been too successful on the Oscar front recently.
