Review: (#1, C) This is a chaotic design that shockingly has few interesting details, just a lot of busy colors and anime flavor. Perfect for fans, not for others. (#2, C) In a film that is clearly anime, having a background that looks more real or computer generated makes the figures standout harshly and doesn’t make the effort look all that appealing, especially in IMAX.

(#3, C+) Not much improved over the chaos of the prior design, this after imposes some empty space to allow the foreground to stand out but it ultimately clashes with the selected images. Those images are also poorly arrayed, which makes for a disappointing effort.

Review: (#1, B-) Anime trailers often feel frenetic, over expressive, and excessively cut. This trailer tries to cut out two of those items, settling into a steady rhythm with purposeful cuts. It leans heavily into the over-expressiveness and the chaos eventually ramps up by the trailer’s end but it’s nice to see an attempt to sell to non-anime fans.
