Review: There are a lot of characters in this design, but they are poorly shoehorned into the design and they are added poorly making the whole thing look off-kilter and almost garish.

Review: (#1) Being a major motion picture by a major filmmaker, this trailer is woefully cheesy. Employing the kind of teaser trailer concept that might have been popular in that era isn’t what makes the trailer not work. What makes it not work is that it tries very hard to conform itself to the mold of Citizen Kane with visual homages to various scenes from that film, which makes the whole thing feel like a tired, cheap picture.

(#2) That first trailer did little to tell the plot, but tried awful hard to remind viewers of Citizen Kane. This trailer does a far better job conveying the premise of the film and why it’s important. It still has a few Citizen Kane references, but it’s must better at setting itself up as its own film.

Oscar Prospects:

With its connection to Citizen Kane, the possibility is certainly there for this to be a big Oscar contender.
