Review: (#1) It’s nifty in concept, but the child’s fingers are impossibly long for this not to mention that Logan’s pinky finger seems to be missing. Graphical concerns such as these are perhaps nitpicky, but with the dull background and the simplistic logo, it is far from perfect even if nifty.

(#2) After the first design, this seems needlessly mediocre. We get that he’s protecting this little girl, but the blurred background only offsets how chintzy the whole design is. (#3) It’s a lovely sunset in the background silhouetting our hero, which works in terms of symbolism, but otherwise feels a bit oblique. (#4) A combination of the second and third design ultimately fails thanks to the second designs lack of distinctiveness.

(#5) Grizzled Hugh Jackman with a couple of claws tells the viewer all they need to know. It’s simple, but appropriate. (#6) Hearkening back to a poster design period with great creativity, this design has a lot of strong visual elements with plenty of individual parts the viewer will appreciate, especially if they have seen the film.

Review: (#1) You have to give it to the trailer makers for Fox, they know how to make a film feel exciting. This preview establishes both a different tone and a different style to all other comic book movies that have come out in recent years. That thriving visual inventiveness drives the success of the mostly innovative plotting on display.

(#2) We get more meat of the story in this trailer, though the wonderful backing music that gave the first trailer its raw power, has been ejected and we’re left with a more commonplace trailer design that still manages to hint at a different direction for superhero movie dynamics.

Oscar Prospects:

It might be a nominee for Best Makeup & Hairstyling, and depending on what the rest of the year holds and what the film actually provides, categories like Best Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, and Visual Effects could also be minorly in play.
