Synopsis:
From IMDb: “In contemporary London, a Cambodian Chinese mother mourns the untimely death of her son. Her world is further disrupted by the presence of a stranger. We observe their difficulties in trying to connect with one another without a common language, as through a translator they begin to piece together memories of a man they both loved.”

Review: Two things irritate me about this design. The first is that the colors seem so bland and defenseless. The second is that the eye-line between the three characters is slightly off. While the figure on the left can draw his sight directly to the figure we learn in the trailer is his mother, the central figure (his lover), has eyes sitting above that line. Had they been perfectly in line, I might have been more forgiving of a conscious effort to put these three characters in an emotional triangle. I admire the designers’ attempts to create a unique poster experience, but they needed to employ new colors and slightly fix that eye line problem and it might have been one of the best I’ve seen this year.

Review: There may not be a lot of action, which will likely turn off casual moviegoers, but the emotional activity in the trailer is superb. The film feels like a natural, evocative examination of cultural themes and romantic passions. The performances look stellar and makes one with the Oscars were less focused on big names and gave more consideration to less popular figures.
