Synopsis:

From IMDb: “On May 13, 1985, Philadelphia police dropped two pounds of military explosives onto a city row house occupied by the radical group MOVE. The resulting fire was not fought for over an hour although firefighters were on the scene with water cannons in place. Five children and six adults were killed and sixty-one homes were destroyed by the six-alarm blaze, one of the largest in the city’s history. This dramatic tragedy unfolds through an extraordinary visual record previously withheld from the public. It is a graphic illustration of how prejudice, intolerance and fear can lead to unthinkable acts of violence.”

Poster: B

Review: The subtle period touches make this design a visually compelling one. It doesn’t say a great deal about the tragic events on display in the film, but it establishes its period of history effectively.

Trailer: B

Review: Slowly drifting through the events covered in this documentary, the audience learns that a tragic explosion is at the center of a racially-charged trial with an outcome not likely familiar to many. Had it picked up the pace a bit or told us more about what to expect from the film it might have been a bit more interesting.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
