Poster Rating: C+
Review: It’s not exceptionally colorful, but the poster does use a shade of blue that is pleasing while not overbearing. However, the rest of the poster more than makes up for that one positive aspect. The laundry list of stars at the top in self-boxed pictures is distracting and the too playful nature of the leads in the body of the poster is a touch hokey.
Trailer Rating: B
Review: On the surface, the film looks like your typical romantic comedy with beautiful actors whose characters have personality differences come together and change each other’s lives, but the twist of Taryn Manning’s illness acting as a catalyst for a re-examination of life, it could be something entirely more. It would be a notable breakout for Freddie Prinze Jr if that were to happen.
Oscar Prospects:
Despite the positives I see in the trailer, there’s significant doubt that this would be considered for Oscar. Its virtual stealth entering theaters this weekend without so much as a bit of buzz is the best indication it’s a bit off the mark in terms of potential Oscar recognition.
