Review: Slamming the viewer with images of deadly tornadoes is as perfect as you can get for a film like this. The second poster seems a little generic and isn’t as threatening as the other two, which doesn’t give it quite the same impact.

Trailer: C+ / B-

Review: The first trailer only briefly gives an idea of the human impact of the film. Disaster films without an emotional connection are useless. The second trailer at least learns that and sets out the film’s adventures, set up and potential impact. The problem is the characters seem like stiff cardboard, the situations seems stolen directly out of the film Twister, and they give away one of the film’s likely coolest visual effects pieces at the airport.

Oscar Prospects:

It might contend for Best Visual Effects or one or both of the sound categories, but there’s a lot of competition. I wouldn’t count on too much.
