Synopsis:
From IMDb: “Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd star as Erasmus and Paul, a bickering gay couple whose life is turned inside out when a ten-year old boy shows up at their door claiming to be Erasmus’ grandson. Neither Paul, nor Erasmus, are ready to give up their extravagant lifestyles to be parents, but maybe this little kid has thing or two to teach them about the value of family.”

Review: (#1) The cartoonish look on Steve Coogan’s face is distracting. The poorly PhotoShopped boy in the foreground is cheap. The only thing that saves this is Paul Rudd in his bearded glory. (#2) This tagline does not even match what the trailer suggests the film is about. The color scheme is awful and the poses are painfully staged.

Review: This traditional family drama about a child abandoned by his deadbeat father when he goes to prison and is adopted by modestly distant family has been done many times before. That the couple who takes the boy in is gay is the only real twist. There isn’t a lot of great comedy here, which is disappointing considering the talent involved.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
