Review: (#1) Starting off with a teaser poster doesn’t add much to the hype that isn’t already there and this particular design is rather dull even by those standards. (#2-#8) This series of color-diverse posters are rather simplistic and are all rather unimpressive even in combination.

(#9) Smoke signals combined. It’s not an interesting look. (#10) Is this part of a series or just a stand alone with a character that’s not important to recent films? It seems odd to release this one without others, so I suspect we’ll see more in this series eventually. (#11) This is design #9 from a more distant angle and it doesn’t improve anything.

(#12) A continuation on the visual theme of the prior designs, it still lacks charm and overall feels a bit simplistic, even if colorful.

(#13) A simplistic IMAX design that does somewhat speak to the plot, but does so in an unexciting way. (#14) A continuation from a prior set of character posters with nothing more to add. (#15) This is a rather ugly design with giants in characters and lettering, but no style. (#16) Another action design that’s just not that appealing.

Trailer Rating: C+ / C / C+

Review: (#1) For a teaser, fans will no doubt be excited by this; however, they might be just a bit disappointed that the first effort to win their tickets is action-less.

(#2) Taking the prior teaser trailer and picking up where it left off, this trailer will speak to the legions of fans of the series, but I don’t think they’ll be more excited than they already are by the prospects of this seeming re-tread. Props to the producers for not trying to give away every stunt in the film in the trailer.

(#3) The trailer designers for this series know how to amp up the action, but they don’t know quite how to set the stakes to make it look very interesting in terms of plot. Of course, fans of the series don’t really care much about plot, so why should we?

Oscar Prospects:

None.
