Synopsis:

From IMDb: “Jamie regrets her breakup with her girlfriend, while Marian needs to relax. In search of a fresh start, they embark on an unexpected road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals.”

Review: (#1, C+) Whether the car’s positioning is intentional or not, the end result doesn’t look terribly exciting. Fitting perhaps, but not exciting.

(#2, C+) The drive-in sign concept is an interesting one that is well executed but there is far too much empty space. (#3, B-) There’s still an issue with too much empty space and this being particularly egregious with its overbearing whiteness, but the central collection of fragments of the story are intriguing.

Review: (#1, C+) There’s a certain style to a Coen Brothers film that trailermakers hope to use to endear a film to its fans. Yet, doing so without the material of a full-fledged Coens film makes the effort seem stretched and unappealing. That’s the unfortunate status of this film preview.

(#2, C) This looks like a throwback to the Coen Brothers’ early films (such as Raising Arizona). That might appeal to some who have long wanted them to return to their roots; however, anyone who was unimpressed with those early efforts is surely not going to find anything amusing in this trailer.

Oscar Prospects:

It’s rough to say that an Coen film isn’t an Oscar contender, but this one isn’t co-written by Joel Coen and he isn’t listed as a director. Thus, the chances are low that the film can build on their joint reputation to become an Oscar contender.
