Synopsis:
From IMDb: “A documentary film about the impact of the newspaper comic strip Calvin & Hobbes, created by Bill Watterson.”
Poster: B-
Review: It’s just enough of a taste of the Calvin & Hobbes flavor to set expectations, but unless you’re intimately familiar with the work, it won’t be very compelling.
Trailer: B- / C+
Review: The two trailers are unique in many ways, but cover the same ground, establishing Bill Watterson as a god among cartoonists. It also puts forth the idea that Calvin & Hobbes are universally beloved, but that slavish devotion may be the film’s undoing, creating a puff piece and not a fascinating exploration of an artist’s impact and work.
Oscar Prospects:
None.
