Synopsis:
From IMDb: “A passionate love story between two people of different backgrounds and temperaments, who are fatefully mismatched and yet condemned to each other. Set against the background of the Cold War in the 1950s in Poland, Berlin, Yugoslavia and Paris, the film depicts an impossible love story in impossible times.”

Review: Love certainly comes to mind with this design, but the lack of flair or background detail isn’t terribly interesting.

Review: (#1) The trailer is played out over a vocal act and that seems to fit the trailer well even if everything feels forced. There’s a genuine sense of passion here, though some questionable scene inclusions.
(#2) A gorgeous piece framed beautifully by compelling and fitting musical interludes. It’s a symphonic vision that highlights the beauty of its imagery while emphasizing its simple passions.
Oscar Prospects:
Not only is it competing strongly for a slot on the Best Foreign Language film roster, but also in the Best Cinematography category. The latter might be a stretch, but the former’s a solid possibility.
