Poster Rating: D+

Review: As posters go, this is among the worst design. Used presumably to highlight as many of the actors in the film as possible, it merely becomes a boring, self-deluded promotional tool with no artistic merit.

Trailer Rating: B-

Review: Coming so soon after the success of Dreamgirls, you would expect Beyonc not to want to take on a musical icon (real or fictional) again so soon, but here she is at it again. I’m not sure form the preview if she’s any good, but there has been a lot of rumor that she is good and could be a contender. Sadly, the trailer doesn’t make the film seem like anything too exciting.

Oscar Prospects:

Right now, only Beyonc has any real shot at a nod for this film. It doesn’t have the pedigree of a Ray or a Dreamgirls, and it certainly doesn’t have the buzz following it.
