Review: (#1) This is a vivid and fascinating picture, filled with plenty of rich details that give one a sense of splendor. (#2) This one tries for the same sense of splendor, but feels too precise, and possibly confusing, to be effective.

Review: The trailer is a jumble of details, admittedly fascinating details. The premise is explained to an extent, but not an extent to which children will be either excited or interested.

Oscar Prospects:

One of two GKids efforts in release this year. It’s the one small distributor who’s been able to secure double nominations in Best Animated Feature. While I can see an easy case for another film, this one looks a bit too outside-the-box for the more traditional Academy.
