Review: (#1, C+) Anyone who remembers Beverly Hills Cop and its suite of sequels will certainly be intrigued by this but it doesn’t create any level of excitement or nostalgia directly.

(#2, C+) Calling back to the original film is all well and good but there’s little of intrigue or creative energy with this design.

Review: (#1, B-) More than just a teaser, this first trailer has some action in it and features star Eddie Murphy but other than the “Axel F” theme song, it doesn’t feel like a natural rebirth of the Beverly Hills Cop series.

(#2, C+) Much of the trailer plays like an overly familiar action comedy and while the original helped establish that formula, returning to it might not be the wisest course of action. Still, fans of the comic stylings of 80s Eddie Murphy may be pleased enough to make the production a modest success.
