Review: (#1) This backstage photo really doesn’t tell the audience much about the film. It covers up names and creates poorly blocked elements that look out of sorts.

(#2) Gives us some perspective on the actors in the film, but it has no good background and ultimately feels uninspired. (#3-#6) These four character posters look like the main design with the bland teal background and yet they still manage to add nothing new.

Trailer Rating: B- / C

Review: (#1) Going to great lengths to hide the meat of the film and even going so far as to avoid Nicole Kidman as Lucille Ball, it all seems a rather strange choice for a film that was supposed to be an Oscar contender at one point.

(#2) They still try to hide Kidman’s performance behind editing and the plot is still amorphous. The end result is something that feels a bit more dull and unappealing.

Oscar Prospects:

With the talent involved, it’s always a good thing to think of a film as a major contender. Aaron Sorkin has done quite well recently with the Academy, but the film has been held back for December release and didn’t make the festival circuit, which is a little worrisome for a film that needs that added boost to improve its profile. The first trailer only highlights those concerns with Kidman’s narration and Bardem’s performance both seeming like pale imitations.
