Review: They make Salma Hayek look out of place, which is fitting, and the plaudits listed will benefit the film’s chances at the specialty box office, but it’s not a very impressive design otherwise.

Review: (#1) Perhaps too wordy for modern audiences to sit through, the first poster sets up the sparks and fireworks the film is sure to generate and suggests there might be something a bit more violent in the offing, but it sets the film up nicely. (#2) On the other hand, the second trailer makes it more easily digestible for those wanting a quick return on investment, but it also feels a bit less tense or compelling as a result.
Oscar Prospects:
One of the year’s early festival releases, Beatriz at Dinner didn’t generate spectacular interest, but stars Salma Hayek and John Lithgow were spoken of kindly. Both could emerge at the end of the year as contenders, but I’m guessing the film is ultimately overlooked.
