Review: (#1) This design has plenty to draw and intrigue the wandering eye, though it may not have as much significance to those who aren’t already familiar with the comic book basis. (#2) While this design is horribly bland, it’s a clever take on the protagonist’s stature.

(#3) A final design that’s a little less interesting than its predecessors, but is suitable for mass sales. (#4) It’s a bit more interesting, but also looks a bit cheesier than prior efforts. (#5-#7) Ties the character into the rest of the Marvel universe with minimal effort, though how much time he’ll spend associated with these particular Avengers is anyone’s guess. (#8) This is the most interesting design so far and it comes from a foreign market from where some of the best (and worst) posters typically come.

(#9) Removing some of the characters from design #3, though likely a predecessor to that design. Having fewer makes it look more sparse and vacant. (#10) A helmet. So exciting. (#11) Interesting for what it is, but not very compelling from a filmgoer standpoint. (#12-#17) These character designs are poorly constructed, the visual effects look entirely fake and they serve no real purpose but exploring various types of hand and facial gestures. A poor excuse for a character poster set.

Trailer: C+

Review: A straight-forward, generic comic adaptation trailer that tries to make the film seem exciting without exploring the narrative thrust behind the action, which makes it seem less interesting as a result.

Oscar Prospects:

This should do well for Disney/Marvel in terms of visual effects. Innerspace did quite well with the Academy, though Honey, I Shrunk the Kids wasn’t so lucky.
