Synopsis:
From IMDb: “This intimate documentary follows the 12-year journey of two African-American families pursuing the promise of opportunity through the education of their sons.”

Review: This design makes the film look like a standard narrative feature, though one that isn’t particularly relevant. I give the producers credit for trying, but ultimately its another one-sheet that audiences will likely bypass.

Review: This simple documentary focuses on two exceptional black children forced to climb to relevance through an education system that provides fewer opportunities to children of color. The importance of the saga may make for an interesting experience, but the trailer doesn’t make it look terribly revealing.
Oscar Prospects:
Education is a primary topic among Hollywood’s elite, which might make this a compelling entry into this year’s Oscar race. However, with all the political hot topic issues on deck, it could get lost in the shuffle.
