Review: (#1) The attempt to tie in the theme of the film with the poster design sometimes leads to poor decisions and this is one of them. Those aren’t ordinary bullet holes. They are comically large, which makes it all seem rather silly. (#2) A little more of an attempt at creativity, the background is too empty, though the inset against the actors is well handled.

(#3-#5) A trio of character posters that have no background and a body inset of minimal interest. (#6) Although the background is rather dull, it’s an interesting deviation from myriad other designs of similar nature with the white cross a potent reference to its title.

Trailer Rating: C+ / C+

Review: (#1) Michael Bay hasn’t made a great film. He’s barely made some good ones. That means watching a trailer for one of his films requires a pulse-pounding, attention-grabbing narrative and action sequences and this trailer doesn’t seem to know hot to deliver those, making the whole effort feel wasted.

(#2) There are certain directors whose excesses often get in the way of good storytelling. Michael Bay is one of those filmmakers and this trailer is awash in explosive details that point to a Bay picture without giving the narrative a fitting boost and conveying to the audience that there’s something worth seeing here.

Oscar Prospects:

None.
